Give dogs a choice.
We never force on-leash greetings. A dog may walk with the group without meeting, touching or playing with another dog. Ask before approaching and respect the answer the first time. See how our Ericeira community dog walks work and what to bring.
Every person manages their own dog.
- Dogs stay under the control of their responsible adult.
- Use a secure leash near roads, cliff edges and other hazards.
- Follow local rules and the walk host’s route-specific guidance.
- Bring water and pick up after your dog.
Health comes first.
Dogs joining group walks must be vaccinated and free from contagious illness. Skip the walk if your dog is unwell, recovering or currently unable to cope safely with the planned environment.
Shy and reactive dogs
Space needs are normal. Message us before the walk with a brief, honest description of your dog’s triggers and comfortable distance. We can suggest a starting position and tell you when a particular route or group may not be the right fit.
Community walks are not a substitute for one-to-one support from a qualified behaviour professional. If your dog may bite, escape or create a serious safety risk, get professional guidance before joining.
A note for people
Be considerate. Communicate early. Leave judgement at home. We are here to enjoy the outdoors and help dogs feel safer around one another—not to prove anything.

Yes. Dogs joining group walks must have appropriate vaccinations and be free from contagious illness.
Can dogs walk off leash?
Dogs must use a secure leash near roads, cliff edges and other hazards. A long line may be suitable on some routes when local rules and conditions allow.
Can my dog wear a muzzle?
Yes. A properly fitted, positively conditioned basket muzzle is a responsible safety tool and is welcome on our walks.
Who is responsible for each dog?
Every participant remains fully responsible for their own dog, equipment, decisions and behaviour throughout the walk.
